The
Great Buddha Statue is 80-foot tall and the first-ever Buddha statue built in
Bodhgaya, India as a holy symbol and an important Buddhist pilgrimage
destination. The Buddha is sitting in meditation pose or Dhyan mudra upon a
lotus and it took 7 years and 120,000 masons to complete this site. The 14th
Dalai Lama was present at the disclosing ceremony of statue in 1989 near the
Mahabodhi Temple of Bodhgaya which is a World Heritage Site. People who follow
